Yuqun Zhang's main research interests lie in Software Engineering, and its synergy with Machine Learning and Programming Languages. He has published over 50 research papers, winning two ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Awards (ISSTA 2019 & ICSE 2025). His research has helped detect hundreds of bugs for open-source projects from Apache and GitHub, as well as commercial products from Alipay and Kwai where his work on code generation, fuzzing, taint analysis, and program analysis has been successfully deployed with million lines of code and over 1 billion global users. He has also been extensively working on developing theories and techniques for artificial intelligence, e.g., Large Language Models, and applying them on software engineering research.

We are also looking for PhD students with strong academic background in Software Engineering, Large Language Models, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Programming Languages, or Formal Methods. Biography

Yuqun Zhang is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology. Dr. Zhang got his B.S. in Communication Engineering from Tianjin University (China), and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Rochester with Prof. Wendi Heinzelman. He got his Ph.D. from the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was very fortunate to work under the supervision of Prof. Dewayne Perry.
